Winged Triangular Shawl
Winged Triangular Shawl:
Enhanced Drape & Structure
The winged triangular shawl, a unique twist on the classic triangular shape, features wrong-side (WS) increases. These create the dramatic flared wings, enhancing the drape and wearability of the shawl in a way that's sure to intrigue and excite knitters of all skill levels.
The yarn overs on the WS create gradually expanding wings that provide additional fabric at the wingtips, increasing shoulder coverage. The shawl is not only easier to tie at the back of your neck without losing shape, but it also stays securely in place when worn, forms elegant folds when draped, and offers a myriad of versatile styling options. From the classic wrap to a stylish bandana, this shawl shape is sure to inspire your creativity.
Like the Crescent Shawl, the Winged Triangular Shawl can also benefit from using Twisted Yarn Overs when transitioning from purl to knit at the borders. This technique helps maintain symmetry in the yarn overs at both edges by ensuring that the same amount of yarn is used for the yarn overs at the border stitches.
